Two of the hottest entities in popular music join forces on Fashion Rocks concert in NYC this week when Jibbs performs with the Pussycat Dolls. Jibbs, whose singe Chain Hang Low is screaming up the chart (it is currently the #5 song on Itunes chart), will join PCD for a what is sure to be a rousing rendition of their megahit "Buttons." Jibbs will be filling in the big shoes of Snoop Dogg who collaborates with PCD on the recorded version of the song.

The CW Network continues its nationwide casting call for its upcoming reality series "The Search for the Next Pussycat Doll" (working title) in LOS ANGELES on SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 9 at CBS Studio Center (4024 Radford Avenue in Studio City) from 12:00-6:00 p.m. A newly added casting call in LAS VEGAS will take place on SEPTEMBER 4 at the MGM Grand from 4:00-9:00 p.m.

Producers are looking for diverse young women (ages 18 and over) from all walks of life to showcase female empowerment, self-discovery, personal transformation and their inner Pussycat Doll. A collision of style and sound, the star-studded fashion and music spectacular will kick off Fashion Week with a nationally televised special celebrating the relationship between fashion and music to air on the CBS Television Network, Friday, September 8, 2006 (9:00-11:00, ET/PT); Proceeds from the show will benefit the Elton John AIDS foundation.



Music and style icon Elton John joins the production as curator; bringing his inimitable sense of fashion and legendary musical genius to the show with unexpected artist pairings and an homage to classic songs by today's freshest talent.

On 12/31 the Dolls will be performing "Don't Cha" and "Stickwitu" on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin’ Eve (ABC)

Having gotten their start as a celebrity-laden rock burlesque troupe, the Pussycat Dolls are now getting attention as a pop-showgirl hybrid. On the strength of their hit single "Don't Cha," they are positioning themselves to reinvent the girl group as we know it.

They sing great, they dance great and they look great -- especially when they do it in skimpy lingerie and garters. The only way we could like the Pussycat Dolls any more than we already do is if they did all that while grilling us a nice big steak, too.

If there's one thing that the Pussycat Dolls have, it's a sense of style. They can credit the group's founder, Robin Antin, for their unique look. "I always loved the idea of a little frilly panty with garters and boots," she recalled. "I grew up sewing, so in the beginning I made all the costumes."

Over the last few years, the Pussycat Dolls have drifted away from their burlesque roots. While still known for their skimpy nightclub costumes, the pop-star Dolls now dress more in the line of their one-time guest stars Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

Since attractiveness is part of a Pussycat Doll's job qualifications, every member of the group is a bona fide beauty in her own right. After all, Carmen Electra was the troupe's first leader (she continues to help spread the word about the Dolls), and she set a high standard.

Today's Pussycat Dolls have increased their beauty by coupling it with variety. Carmit, for example, is a redhead of Israeli, Indonesian, Dutch, and Chinese descent; raven-haired leader Nicole comes from a Hawaiian, Filipina and Russian background. African/Mexican-American Melody, brunette Jessica and two blondes, Kimberly and Ashley, round out the group.

As a group, the Pussycat Dolls have enjoyed a decade of success. When they first appeared on the scene, People magazine hailed them as "L.A.'s hottest cabaret ticket of the year." Aside from the regular Dolls, the troupe has included guest stars Christina Aguilera, Pamela Anderson, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Brittany Murphy, Gwen Stefani, and Scarlett Johannson, among others. The Pussycat Dolls have done specials for MTV and VH1, participated in ads for Christian Dior and appeared in movies like Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.

But for all their collective acclaim, the current Pussycat Dolls -- Nicole Scherzinger, Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta, Melody Thornton, and Kimberly Wyatt -- have yet to become stars in their own right. Perhaps with the upcoming release of their debut album PCD and their shows at The Pussycat Dolls Lounge at Caesars Palace, that's about to change.

A stage full of Hollywood's sexiest girls in lacy lingerie doing a seductive striptease? Great -- when are they coming to our town? The Pussycat Dolls get a walloping dollop of sexiness points for strutting their stuff the way they do, while proving that leaving a little to the imagination only makes their performances more exciting.

The Pussycat Dolls are certainly able to take sensuality to the limit; during one performance, their corsets were harnessed so tight that they had to be cut out of them. For fans of old-school titillation, such dedication to burlesque sexiness is awe-inspiring (and a little drool-inspiring, too).

Since the Pussycat Dolls are a sextet, there are a lot of different personalities that come together to form the group. For example, Nicole likes reading, writing and playing sports; Ashley has a tattoo on her lower back; and Jessica is known for staying cool under pressure. But founder Robin Antin put it best when she described the typical Pussycat Doll: "She's funny, she has a sense of humor. She's smart. She's really hot."

Talent onstage is also a sine qua non for any Pussycat Doll. Many members of the current troupe previously distinguished themselves in competitions: Carmit placed fifth in the 1992 Olympic gymnastics trials, while Nicole won TV's Popstars: USA competition (she was part of the group Eden's Crush). That all the Dolls are in demand both separately and together as dancers and vocalists is testament to their abilities. Like Nicole says, "[We're] not just another cookie-cutter group."

The brainchild of dancer/choreographer Robin Antin, the Pussycat Dolls began as a group of dancer friends putting on a burlesque show for fun. Before long, the troupe had ballooned into a full-fledged cabaret with a score of dancers headed by Carmen Electra. The current incarnation of the Pussycat Dolls -- comprised of Nicole Scherzinger, Carmit Bachar, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta, Melody Thornton, and Kimberly Wyatt -- are a focused sextet of pop hopefuls.

Long before the big-screen success of such neo-cabaret hits like Moulin Rouge! (2001) and Chicago (2002), the stylish Pussycat Dolls had been popularizing the nearly lost art of striptease burlesque. It was from founder Robin Antin's concept of "rock 'n' roll burlesque" that the group's unique, sensual style emerged.

Adding to the Dolls' appeal is the wide range of beauties and personalities that make up the current group.

By the following year, the new sextet was poised to break into the big time. After a memorable appearance alongside stars Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore in Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle, they had signed with A&M Records. The Pussycat Dolls released their first single, "Don't Cha," in April of 2005.

As the song, which featured Busta Rhymes, climbed the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, The Pussycat Dolls Lounge opened in Caesars Palace, Las Vegas. By the late summer of 2005, the Pussycat Dolls were putting the final touches on their debut album, called PCD.

In 2003, Robin Antin decided to totally reinvent the Pussycat Dolls. She held open auditions to form a new troupe that would take the group into a different musical direction.

The new Dolls were Nicole Scherzinger, a native of Honolulu who had become the lead singer of the band Eden's Crush after winning TV's Popstars: USA competition; Carmit Bachar, who had performed on tour with Beyonce, with Ricky Martin as his "La Vida Loca" girl and with Janet Jackson during her infamous Super Bowl halftime show; Melody Thornton; Kimberly Wyatt, Jessica Sutta; and finally, Ashley Roberts, who got her start dancing for Aaron Carter.

Throughout the mid- to late '90s, the Pussycat Dolls sold out a series of shows at the Roxy, served as the opening act at a Jane's Addiction concert and played the annual Elton John/InStyle Oscar party. It wasn't long before a whole bevy of celebrities wanted to suit up with the Pussycat Dolls and strut their stuff. "I get the most famous people coming up to me begging to know how they can appear with us," Carmen Electra revealed at the time.

Among the troupe's guest performers during this period were Christina Aguilera, Charlize Theron, Gwen Stefani, Britney Spears, and Brittany Murphy. Big names like Dave Navarro, Marilyn Manson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Heather Graham, David Spade, Gene Simmons, and Hugh Hefner were all seen attending Pussycat Dolls shows.

The "life story" of the Pussycat Dolls is really the story of a number of talented women. The group was founded by Robin Antin, a respected Hollywood choreographer who turned a lifelong passion for dance into a lucrative career. In 1993, the 32-year-old dancer got some girlfriends together, and within two years the collective began putting on burlesque shows in Los Angeles venues.

Christina Applegate, an early "guest" Doll and former star of TV's Married... with Children, encouraged Antin to have the troupe perform at Johnny Depp's Viper Room in 1995. Depp was so impressed when he saw them rehearse that he asked the Dolls to perform there on a weekly basis. During the early years, Carmen Electra was the group's lead performer, and her presence gave the troupe a double dose of sex appeal and celebrity notoriety. But the host of other singers and dancers that formed part of the Pussycat Dolls over the years -- more than 25 of them -- were no less impressive.
